September 13, 2010

Correction: The date is September 16.

Jennifer Pinkley, a member of the Huntsville Grotto caving club, will give a presentation about bats, caves, and WNS at the next meeting of the North Alabama Sierra Club. The meeting is Thursday, September 16, at 6:30  at the Huntsville Public Library. Jennifer will talk about the role bats play in our ecosystem, how WNS is affecting bats in the eastern US, and what you can do to help report suspicious bats this winter. She’ll also share some first hand accounts of helping to monitor the largest gray bat hibernaculum (hibernating cave) in the country. She’ll also show some photos local cave photographers have taken of some of our beautiful area caves. Please join us to learn more about WNS and how you can help!
